yeah, well time to share one of my stories, the other day i was chilling browsing the anime forums and i get a call about a UXO ( un exploded ordnance ) , so we rush over to the water tanks, sirens blazing, get there and find out that its a 155 mm round that hit, 3 of them, 2 exploded and the 3rd one was sitting inside a 10,000 gallon water bladder. We had to secure the area, evacuate all the local nationals and call the bomb buddies to blow the bladder in place. The explosion was cool and a piece of the valve hit my gunner's windshield and put a small crack in it, imagine a piece of steel the size of your fist flying at you at about 115 MPH and then stopping inches from your face thanks to 6 inch thick bulletproof glass. Man i love my job. ;D
More to come, i have stories from this deployment and round 1 when everyone first put feet on ground over here, and for those that are curious, i have 9 confirmed kills under my belt , 3 i was under investigation for.

Sigh, i get the feeling i made it even worse. So how about this, you pick what my new topic name should be so i can't jack it all up , please ? In other news, on the night of 9/11 of 2008, i was patrolling the MTA yard when all of a sudden we get a call about some guys sneaking in. It turns out that these guys were not only invading the MTA yard for goods and truck parts, they were trying to get closer to be within mortar attack range. Fun night but with some help from the VENOM element, we ( the BATMAN element) detained 15 people and a cache of weapons, score one for me. YAY~!! p.s no sarcasm in those first 2 sentences, have mercy

Well, I'm not in the Army, I'm in the Navy; nevertheless, I'm a firm believer that we're all working for the same thing, so I salute you. I'm the supervisor for a 5-inch gunnery team on a guided missile destroyer, so if you guys ever need fire support on shore, we're the ones to call! Er, assuming you're somewhere near the beach that is, heh.
Anyway, good luck over there. The farthest abroad I've been is South America and the Caribbean, so my stories aren't as good as yours, but if you ever want to swap some, I'm game. I'm part of a Voluntary Board, Search, and Seizure team on my ship, getting ready to start some counter-narco ops here in a bit, so hopefully I'll have some good ones to share soon!

wow , sorry i havent had time to run through these forums lately, glad to see more military members on here, i know we are not the most loved of people let alone the most loved occupation. A seizure team as i understand is he basically takes the bad guys stuff away and it goes to evidence for proof in court, someones personal stash or ebay, depending on the items, like in NYC when SWAT has a raid, all things gathered after get used for a trial then get sold at a local police auction. Gotta love it !!! ok new story, im chilling near the fuel farm ( gas station ) and i hear whistling. What coud it be i say ? Its mortars of course. So we rush to the gate outside, cordon ( surround the area ) off the place where we see some local nationals and guess what they were doing. Burying the pipes deeper for better angling, we busted them, detained them and all was well again for the small village outside of Tikrit , Iraq. Share some stories, im intrigued since i know ....... that much about the navy LOL p.s Nat, have you found yourself a new hero ? ? ? ? ?

Yeah, a seizure team does take the bad guys' stuff away. However, we don't acution it off! I highly doubt the government would be pleased if we auctioned off all the cocaine and marijuana they find on the boats out here! And as for the boats themselves, we'll sink them once we get all the crew and cargo off. Gives us gunners some practice, heh.

OMG silly fool, trix are for kids, i mean ..... of course they wont auction off the drugs, they use it for evidence and then it goes into storage, cuz if they did auction it off , guess who would be first in line to turn it into a profit

semi sad ending incoming
ok story time, OIF one, Operation Iraqi Freedom, its 135 out side, sun blazing, im on the road, rear gun truck manning the 50 cal. Small car pulls up and wants to go around the convoy, my orders are to not let anyone pass. I flag him down and yell at him to not pass. He makes an attempt to pass, i tell the driver shut him down and cut him off. He tries again, i make repeated attempts to stop him. I point to the 50 caliber machine gun barrel that has rounds big enough to decimate a persons abdomen in one shot and he slows down. He flips me off and reaches for his glove compartment. I cant see what hes reaching for so i unleash and put 42 shots throughout the car. It careens off the road and explodes, killing one man, one woman and one child of around 12 years old. Im hated by Iraqi police for days and undergo mental evalution investigation. I pass and return to duty. Do i regret doing my job and keeping myself alive, no, do i wish i could see what he was reaching for, no, i will go home in one piece at any cost. Let the flaming begin cuz im sure someone hates my job on this site and i fully understand but i wont quit doing what i do for my country.
p.s i typed this fast cuz my time is almost up, gotta go run 5 miles in 20 minutes, in the dark, woot !!!

Eh, we cant hate you. You do what you are told to do, it's not like you are doing this all for the sake of being evil and to take of the world. But, because of killing people.. don't you get nightmares? I would.

I wouldn't flame you Jaisun any more than I'd lambast a customer service representative of a company that screwed me over. You're on the front you're not making the policies.
I am sad both for you and the family.

I never been in war nor have I ever seen a person die in a gun fight, I see it on tv, on Anime and such. I seen people get shot to death in Anime but never for real. We do not judge you, I personally look to the one who started the war in the first place. I do know what war does to people, my best friends father was screwed up after Vietnam.. I heard stories of that... children strapped with exposives... nothing disgusts me more when the children are sacrificed.

glad you mentioned that , another short story
Convoy lead truck blew a tire out, we stop on the side of the road. Small village sees us and comes out to greet us and stuff. I keep an eye on the adults but i dont notice the kids preparing to throw rocks. They seem harmless being thrown at up armored Humvees, but i keep watching. good thing i do because one of the rocks turns out to be a grenade, i yell to move but one truck gets blown up. In retaliation i light up the crowd , injuring 4 and causing chaos. We leave with no deaths but one truck lost to a grenade. I notice there is a kid in the bed of my truck, i take him out and place him on the street, as i look up one of the villagers shoots me with a hand gun, caliber unknown. I take 3 to the chest, return fire and roll out in pain. Pretty scare, and no Nat never had nightmares, thats why they evalutaed me, i felt no remorse or guilt for killing random people.

When your life is threatened, there is no time to think. Another reason I hold great respect for anyone in the military. The one thing I dont see, why is the national guard overseas? The National Guard is supposed to be here in case of emergency. As I said before after that F5 Tornado ripped through Greensburg, they couldnt recover cause most of their troops and equipment were overseas. Now areas struck by hurricanes, I see the damage and I see people moving in. I dont know if its still being done, but that one inicident was poor planning. I mean an F5 tornado is like in terms of the military... like a bomb.

thank you, they changed my run till tomorrow morning, woot for me
as for the national guard, the truth is so many soldiers are getting out of the army and for now we must maintain our presence of force here in numbers .... or so im told, so as people ETS , end term service, and become civilians, they get replaced with national guard units, foolish i know but there is a saying " if it makes sense, it must be wrong "
